Patrick Molzahn, member of the Woodwork Career Alliance Board of Directors and Program Director, Cabinetmaking and Millwork, Madison College, provided the following update on WCA EDUcation™ membership benefits:

EDU Essentials donation package: Our sponsors began shipping their products in December. We are grateful to Franklin, Veneer Tech, Rockler, Quickscrews, Bessey Clamp and Taunton Press for their continued support. The value of the Essentials® donation package more than covers the cost of the annual EDUcation™ membership. To receive the donation package, high school and postsecondary schools had to enroll by the October 31 deadline and complete their request online.

AWFS Fair Scholarships: This year the WCA will fund 10 scholarships for teachers to attend the AWFS Fair July 19-22 in Las Vegas. Teachers can apply for up to $750 in reimbursement to offset their cost of travel and lodging. The first round of applications resulted in four teachers receiving support. A second round of applications will be considered in April. The deadline to apply is March 31. Visit the WCA website for more information and to apply.

WCA curriculum is coming: Work is now being done to establish an official WCA curriculum. Training materials are being assembled and will be accessible as part of your 2017-18 EDU or IND membership. The curriculum will be unveiled at the AWFS Fair in July.
