  • What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. The event is informal. We will spend the majority of our time in the lab operating machinery and conducting evaluations.

  • When should I get there?

Brooks Center, Virginia Tech – Directions:
Approaching from the east on Interstate 81 (southbound and northbound).
Take Exit 118 to reach the exit ramps for all three of the exits at this location. There is only one exit ramp serving the exits; missing the ramp means a trip north to Exit 128 or south to Exit 114 to turn around.
Take Exit 118B onto U.S. 460 West. Follow the signs for Blacksburg/Virginia Tech. The U.S. 460 bypass is a limited-access highway from I-81 to Virginia Tech.
Watch signs carefully for routes and directions. Stay on U.S. 460 West, toward Virginia Tech, Bluefield. Take exit 5A and stay to the right. At the intersection with Industrial Park Road turn left. At the second traffic light turn right onto Research Center Drive. After a sharp left corner in Research Center Drive, take the first left into the parking lot for the Brooks Forest Products Center (1650 Research Center Dr.)

The training runs from 1:30-4:00. Arrive between 1:00-1:30 pm to register, to present your “Certificate” from eLearning, and to network.

You may stay anywhere you like. We have no special arrangement or relationship to any properties, and have no personal knowledge of their quality or service.

  • Will there be LUNCH?

Not for this special program. Enjoy lunch on your own before registering at Brooks Center.

  • Do I need my own Personal Protective devices?

You can bring your own safety glasses if you prefer or borrow a pair of ours. We have plenty on hand.

You may find it useful to bring a laptop with internet accessibility. Exploration of the website and Registry will be part of the program. Your own hands-on from your computer is valuable.
